Small installment

So Ida DOES do scalp IV's. Hah!

Here's the proof. I know, this is probably gory to all of you out there, but to me, all I see is a beautiful IV. I guess, to really appreciate something like this, you gotta have in your history a "fellow" (advanced training doctor in the NICU) telling you he plans to put a tube in your baby's throat, and We have to have an IV, but we don't know if we can get one. And if we don't get an IV, we're up S---'s Creek. So I don't know exactly where S---'s Creek is, but I will tell you this. If you need to tell a parent that you are a little concerned, or even very concerned, about a situation. I think there are less poetic phrases that might be used, and that would still get across your level of concern. So as a result, I tend to get all hero-worshippy when someone is willing to try for a scalp IV, because it's one of her best IV access choices. And lots of nurses don't like to even try there.

Ida's not so big on pictures.
Dr. B doesn't mind so much, herself. :)

Lori, either.

Hey Girl,

I am getting used to gory and this isn't bad at all. Especially if Mallorie doesn't have to endure poke after poke to try to find a vein. Just look at how sweet she is in the last picture, looking at the doctor or nurse. She is so sweet Connie. Hoping she has seen the last of the hospital for a long time:)

you crack me up with your love for the scalp IV.
You need to make a label just for that topic :)
In all Dovi's time in the hospital, he's never had one!

You're so funny-
No, we don't have an at home strep test. We do have a neighbor who is a doctor and keeps rapid tests at home.
He is an angel!
And my beautiful pantry? It's just my unfinished basement. You were distracted by the beauty of all the food. :)

Now it just looks like you are having too much fun in that hospital! :) I love the staff, I can tell they love you and Mallorie.
We never had a scalp IV, but we did have a 4 hour pic line attempt, finally went in, almost had surgery.

I do not share your love of the scalp IV. I understand the love, but I can't share it. It just skeeves me out too much, mostly on my own kid's head.
Love all of your staff pics. I don't think I've ever taken a picture of a nurse or doctor. I try not to get too attached. And mine aren't nearly as much fun, so I think they wouldn't appreciate it. Your team? Looks awesome!

Been there with the scalp IV! Your blog is amazing. I found it searching for Spina Bifida. Sounds like you're a great Mom, and we've gotta find the humor in everything we go through or we'll go crazy, right?

I know you must be really busy but I am checking in tonight to wish you and Mallorie a Happy Valentine's Day with lots of love. I miss you when you are busy. ~sigh~ I have posted pictures of some of the coke collection and the kids and if you get a chance to see them, let me know what you think. If you click them to get full screen, you can see some of my stained glass in the pictures too. Love you Connie and praying for all to be healthy and blessed.
